Freedom Hill Vineyard
Where Exceptional Wine Begins.
Rooted in Passion. Driven by Precision.
The reputation of Freedom Hill has been built not through the wines it produces, but through the trust of the winemakers who return year after year to source its fruit.
Every pour delivers power, depth, and the unmistakable stamp of craftsmanship.
Rooted in Place. Defined by the Land.
For more than four decades, Freedom Hill Vineyard has cultivated a reputation as one of Oregon’s most respected vineyard sites — a place where land, climate, and careful stewardship come together to produce wines of depth, balance, and unmistakable character.
Set among the foothills of the coastal range of the Mt. Pisgah, Polk County, AVA in the central Willamette Valley, Freedom Hill is shaped by the region’s marine sedimentary soils, hillside elevations, and the cooling Pacific influence that defines Oregon’s finest growing sites. These natural conditions create fruit with structure, vibrancy, and a distinct sense of place — qualities that have made Freedom Hill a trusted source for many of the Northwest’s most acclaimed wineries and winemakers.
Dustin, Helen and Dan Dusschee
Family owned and managed
Established in 1981 by Dan and Helen Dusschee, the vineyard began with a simple belief: exceptional wine begins in the vineyard. Over the decades, Freedom Hill has evolved through careful replanting, thoughtful farming, and an enduring commitment to understanding the individuality of the land. Today, their son Dustin continues that legacy, managing the vineyard with the same dedication and care, ensuring each block is farmed with long-term stewardship in mind so that every vintage reflects both the character of the site and the rhythm of the growing season.
An enduring connection between great wine and the land
Freedom Hill is home to a carefully selected collection of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc plantings, including renowned heritage and Dijon clones chosen for their ability to express the vineyard’s unique terroir. From the structure and complexity of Pinot Noir to the tension and elegance of Chardonnay, the vineyard consistently produces fruit that allows winemakers to craft wines with clarity, nuance, and longevity.
While the wines themselves are made by many different hands, their origin begins here — in the soils, slopes, and seasons of Freedom Hill Vineyard. For wine lovers who discover the Freedom Hill name through a favorite bottle, the vineyard represents more than a source of fruit; it represents a lasting expression of Oregon terroir and the enduring connection between great wine and the land from which it comes.
